Our Dialogic Classroom framework fosters curiosity, respect, and trust through an approach that develops students’ skills of constructive engagement across differences and healthy communication.
In a Dialogic Classroom, students come to better understand themselves as well as the different perspectives around them. They make connections between the course content and their experiences and values, encouraging nuanced thinking and greater curiosity. Over time, the framework builds social-emotional skills, enhances classroom inclusion and belonging, and prepares students to lead in an increasingly complex society.
The purpose of this exercise is to help students understand the differences between different modes of engaging across differences—debate, discussion, and dialogue. They're invited to reflect on their own choices and then break out into small groups to share what they noticed about the different modes and their own experience of each.
